Dr. Jill Goldman is one of 40 Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists in the world. Her fascination with animals and passion for their welfare began at a very young age. Innate love and understanding of animals combined with over 20 years of academic and applied experience fuel her dedicatIon and capacity to improve the lives of animals and the society in which they live.
Carleton’s Place, her Southern California clinical practice, provides on-site and on-line animal behavior services to veterinarians and clinics, attorneys, pet parents, rescue/foster groups, animal welfare organizations, animal shelters, and educational institutions across Southern California, the United States, and Canada. She consults with people and treats many types of animals, especially dogs and cats.
She earned her Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Experimental Psychology at Dalhousie University studying wolf behavior and communication, and earned her Ph.D. in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science at York University studying vocal communication in non-human primates and birds. During her postdoctoral residency at the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) she assessed Humane Law Enforcement dogs and cats seized primarily from neglectful abusive conditions and rehabilitated strays, owned, and surrendered pets. An internship at the Central Park Zoo included working with a variety of species including alpacas, rabbits, chinchillas, ducks, doves, and a potbelly pig.
Jill does not eat meat, is a Bikram Yogi, and makes sure to hit the beach every day with her 15 year old “shelter special”, Roxanne...
